This last weekend we went on our first camping trip for 2008!! We had so much fun! It was a first for a couple of things...our first of the year, our first one alone (without Grandma and Grandpa), and our first one in Aaron's newest toy...our trailer. But of course, we had to forget something and it just happened to be our camera!!! I was so irritated that I could forget such a critical thing, I made Aaron buy a disposable camera...the pictures are not as good quality had I remembered our digital camera, but I am just glad we got pictures. We were able to go down to Pleasant Creek Ranch, a Camperworld Campground in Mount Pleasant. For anyone who doesn't know, Mount Pleasant is about 14 miles north of Ephriam. If you don't know where Ephriam is, it is by Manti. If you don't know where Manti is, it is kind of Eastern Utah area. Aaron grew up going camping down in the Fairview and Ephriam areas. It is a beautiful area. It is about 2.5 hours away from our home, so travel time isn't too bad.
The kids seemed to have a good time!! Liza took her bike, but she had a hard time riding it on the rocks. It would have been great to get some pictures of her riding, but she didn't ride too much. Our kids love playing in the dirt and getting dirty!! It is hard for me as Mom to watch, but camping is about the only time I can let go a little and let them get dirty. Even Caidin enjoyed being able to be free and play in the dirt, although he mostly just tried to eat it! I was missing the days when he didn't like to crawl off the blanket, there was a time where a blanket was a great way to keep him contained! Gone are those days I guess.
The weather was absolutely beautiful!! It was warm and we were able to enjoy the mountains. When we went to get firewood, we drove up Ephriam Canyon and there was a little bit of snow left. The girls got a kick out of seeing snow when it was so warm. I don't think I had seem them so excited before!! Aaron was curious to see if any of the wood he and his dad and brothers had cut when they were hunting last year was left. We drove to where they had camped and there was a pile of wood big enough to have a fire every night for about 1 week or more!! He laughed and was gld they had cut so much extra. We did give the kids a bath, thank goodness for the tub!!!! They were FILTHY!! The girls slept really well, but Caidin had a hard time adjusting to being in a new place. We had the three of them in the same bed, and he is not used to sleeping in a regular bed. I also think he may have been excited about having his sisters next to him!! It is so cute to see how much he admires and loves his sisters!
Aaron did a good job keepin' us warm with a fire each night!! Although I had to laugh when one evening he pulled out the gas. I gave him a hard time, still am giving, about that!! I am just grateful for the fire in the evening.
We look forward to many more fun filled camping trips!! Our kids have been going camping every year and they love it!! We even went camping the first weekend in June last year when Caidin was only about 2 weeks old. Their dad is a major camper and so it it will be years of outdoor fun!! It's all good.
