Winning is not about headlines and hardware [medals]. It's only about attitude. A winner is a person who goes out today and every day and attempts to be the best runner and best person they can be! Winning is about struggle and effort and optimism, and never, ever, ever giving up.

Family Reunion Time!!

This last weekend we went up to Idaho for the Sagers Family Reunion. It was so good to see all of my mom's family again. We haven't been to a reunion since Eliza was a baby, so other than weddings, baptisms and baby blessings we hadn't seen much of the family in the last couple of years. It is always fun to see family, especially when most of them have grown a foot or two since you've last seen them. Some of my cousins I almost didn't recognize because they had grown so much and I guess in my head I thought they would always stay little!!! I don't feel any older, why should they age?

Thursday Aaron got up early and went golfing with all the other golfers in the family. He had fun, but he didn't play as well as he would have liked. He was gone for the better part of the morning, so it was just me and our kids, plus my nephew Michael. Thursday we just kind of hung out and played all day. The kids played in the little pool and played on the slip and slide. They had a lot of fun, but unfortunately not without our share of injuries. Liza was trying to be like the big kids and run down the hill to jump into the pool, while doing so she tripped and hit her nose right on the edge of the cement patio. Her nose got really swollen and she scratched the edge of her right eye. Caidin did a face plant on the very same patio, giving himself a nice little road rash on his forehead. Kilee had one of my cousins daughters helping her put sunscreen on and it got sprayed right in her eyes, she was pretty miserable for a couple of hours. We got all our injuries in on the first day, so I was hoping we would be safe for the rest of the weekend.

Aaron golfed again on Friday morning, he played better this time so he was happy. We went to the Oakley pool to take the kids swimming. They had fun, it was their first time being in a big pool so they were pretty jazzed. They are like little fish, they all love the water and didn't want to get out! Unfortunately, the pool had to close at some point.

Saturday we went on a hike in the foothills behind my aunt and uncle's home. The girls and I went while Aaron stayed behind with Caidin. It was pretty fun, but the girls didn't quite make it on their own the whole way. Many of my family members helped by carrying them for portions of the hike. I think by the end we had gone about 2.5 or 3 miles. It took a total of 2 hours and about 40 minutes I think. Back at the house, we had our Birthday Party. We celebrate everyone's birthdays by having a BBQ, homemade ice cream, cake and a pinata for the kids!! It is fun to see the little ones have their turn hitting the pinata. I don't think the girls realized there would be candy inside, so they were quite surprised!! Caidin had a turn, but I don't think he understood what was going on at all. He took the stick and didn't know what to do. Once I helped him, he caught on real quick!!

We drove home after the Birthday Party, so we didn't get home until about midnight. It was a quiet drive because the kids fell asleep and slept the whole way home. They had had a long, fun weekend and were exhausted!! We got home and put them all in their beds and they woke up between 8:30 and 9:00 this morning!! This was one time I was grateful for 1:00 church because we were all able to sleep in!!

A little update...Kilee and Eliza have both been dry overnight for 1 whole week!!!! I am so excited.

Poor little ones! I hope that it didn't put too much of a damper on things for you. Was Liza's nose broken?
