Winning is not about headlines and hardware [medals]. It's only about attitude. A winner is a person who goes out today and every day and attempts to be the best runner and best person they can be! Winning is about struggle and effort and optimism, and never, ever, ever giving up.

My Latest Project

My neighbor had bought some material to make her girls some spring dresses, but was never able to get them done. She asked me if I wanted the material for my sewing addiction. I told her I would love to take if off her hands, anytime I can get my hands on free fabric I go for it!! She got it really cheap and so she had a lot of it, I told her I would make her girls dresses and then just keep the left over fabric.

Liza has a really cute dress, that I used to model the new dresses after. I just measured and tried to figure out how it was put together. Liza's has a lining, and I wasn't even going to attempt a lining on my dresses seeing as how this would be the first time EVER I was going to make a dress. Other than what I have been learning from my wonderful friend, Angie, my sewing history consists of hemming and pony tails in Young Women's...10 years ago!!

The first one took me a long time, I didn't know where really to start, or which pieces would be the easiest to start with, etc. When I got that one all sewed together, I did the second one...which went much more smoothly. With them both finished I put my finishing touches on, buttons, button holes (my first ones ever.....not very easy!!), and ruffle along the bottoms. I was quite excited with how they turned out! For being such a big project and not having a pattern, I was really happy with the finished product. I am so blessed that Angie has taught me so much!! She is the real reason I am able to sew. She denies it, but without her I would not be as successful in my projects as I have been. I love that woman and am so grateful for her teaching me so much!!My girls were gracious enough to be my models!! I hope Whitney and Kirsten are excited about them as my girls were. They were so sad when I told them they were not their dresses. Now I know how to make them, so I will make some for my girls and maybe my nieces and even some other neighbor girls!!! Sewing has become so fun and such an addiction!!

Michelle, you did such a wonderful job and they came out great. You are so talented to just come up with the pattern by your self. Keep sewing!!!

Soooooo cute!!! And without a pattern! I think you have found a hidden talent. You could totally use what you have learned, and start designing your own stuff. I bet you could sell it. Soon you'd have so many orders you wouldn't know what to do!
