Winning is not about headlines and hardware [medals]. It's only about attitude. A winner is a person who goes out today and every day and attempts to be the best runner and best person they can be! Winning is about struggle and effort and optimism, and never, ever, ever giving up.

My Brave Little Man

Have you ever had one of those "if only" days? That was yesterday for me. If only I had closed the front door behind me as I went to get the mail.

Let me explain, I had opened some windows in the house to get some fresh air circulating in the house. I went out the front door to go get the mail, not thinking about the breeze coming in from the windows. Well, Caidin (17 months) tried to follow me and before he could get through the door, the wind SLAMMED the door closed. I found him sitting in the entryway with blood all over his little hand!! I freaked out!! My poor little man was screaming!!! I called Aaron and he left work early to race home and help me. I got the kids in the car and we went to the Instacare in Saratoga Springs. We waited there for about an hour just to be told, when the doctor finally came to look at it, the injury was too severe and they couldn't help us so we needed to take him to the emergency room. We drove to the American Fork Hospital, and waited in the emergency waiting room for about 2 hours.

When they called us back, they strapped Caidin to a papoose board and gave him some local anesthetic. It was so hard to watch my baby being strapped down and screaming and there was nothing I could do. I wanted to hold his other hand but Aaron said he would, he knelt down by the side of the bed and I stood at the foot. I started crying because Caidin was screaming and it just broke my heart!! Our little man got 6 stitches in his little thumb. The doctor said the tendon looked good and they did an x-ray to make sure the bone wasn't broken. The x-ray tech gave Caidin a little stuffed turtle for being such a brave boy!!

Today he has been playing and running around like there is nothing wrong. He is such a trooper and we are so grateful it wasn't more serious.

Watching your baby scream out in pain and not being able to do anything about it is the worst feeling in the whole world. I'm so sorry that happened to you guys. We love you

OW!! Poor little boy!! We've had stitches in lips and one by the eyebrow. But those were all one or two! That just looks painful. I'm glad he's doing so well!
