Winning is not about headlines and hardware [medals]. It's only about attitude. A winner is a person who goes out today and every day and attempts to be the best runner and best person they can be! Winning is about struggle and effort and optimism, and never, ever, ever giving up.

5 Years and 4 Children Later

Today is Aaron's and my 5 year anniversary. It seems like only yesterday we were going to the Salt Lake Temple to be sealed for all time and eternity. And here we are, a family of 6. It has been 5 fun years, not without it's trials, but fun all the same. I thought I would take this opportunity to do a little background story.

Aaron grew up mostly in the Kearns area. When my family moved into our home in South Jordan, Aaron and his family lived in the next block over. We were in the same ward, and that is how we met. It was a long time in coming though since we were in the same ward for about 6 years, but he didn't actually acknowledge me until the end of year 6. He is three years older than I am and so we weren't in they Young Men/Young Women group at the same time. He actually asked my older sister Megan out on a date (actually 2) first. I was devestated, because I had a HUGE crush on him. Anyway, to make a long story short, we were eventually both called as the Young Single Adult representatives in out home ward. That is when we really started talking. We passed out fliers for a fireside on a cold January night, he kidnapped me and took me to Coldstone when we were done. We sat and talked for about 2 hours!! It was so easy to talk to him and to be myself around him. I got home, to a worried mother who had no idea where I had been, and told her that I was going to marry Aaron Bailey. She laughed. Well, March 13, 2003 he asked me to marry him. We lived with my mom and dad for the first 3 months of our married lives, until our home in Herriman was finished. We welcomed our first beautiful baby girl in August 2004. The rest is history!!

I have to say I have it pretty good, I am married to a wonderful man who loves me and loves his children. He is a worthy Priesthood holder who is able to guide our family through the hard times and rejoices in the great times!! He is a wonderful example for our boys in what to become, and a wonderful example to our girls for the kind of man they should want to marry someday. I cannot say enough about how grateful I am for this wonderful man who I am so blessed to be with! He puts up with my mood swings, which unfortunately are not few and far between, and he loves me when I find it hard to love myself. I don't know what I did in life to deserve such a great man, but I am not complaining.

I often feel unworthy of the blessings in my life. Being a wife and mother is no exception. I am thankful for my absolutely wonderful and loving husband and my fabulous children!! I know the next five years will be filled with as much, if not more, joy and success as these first years have been!! I love you, Aaron, and am so grateful to have you in my life!!
