Winning is not about headlines and hardware [medals]. It's only about attitude. A winner is a person who goes out today and every day and attempts to be the best runner and best person they can be! Winning is about struggle and effort and optimism, and never, ever, ever giving up.

Temple To Temple Steeplechase Year 2

Yesterday was the Temple to Temple Steeplechase run. It is a 5 mile run that starts at the Oquirrh Mountain Temple and ends at the Jordan River Temple. Last year my sisters and I did it, this year Misty, Tami and my dearest friend Jenn ran it with me! Megan opted out since she is about 5 1/2 months pregnant. It was a good morning for a run, nice and cold so you don't break a sweat! My goal was to finish faster than I did last year. I finished it in 47 minutes which was about 10 minutes faster than last year.Since I was the first one of our group to finish, it gave me the privilege of taking pictures of my beautiful friend and sisters as they finished! Races are so much fun, especially when you are participating with those whom you love!!

I haven't run since the marathon in June. 3 months not running to run 5 miles, it was a struggle....near the end I wanted to give up, I almost did, but then I looked up and saw the spires of the Jordan River Temple and told myself....that is where you want to be, you can't give up now!!! I pushed through the tiredness and finished. I was feeling so good, no knee pain, no foot pain so I was so excited that maybe my knee has finally healed, but then today my knee has really been bothering me, almost to the point of tears. And what's worse, the car battery is dead so I had to walk Kilee to Joy School and back and will have to walk to go get Liza from school and back.

(Thankfully Jenn is so wonderful, she let me borrow her van this morning to take Liza to school, we were running late and didn't have time to walk. I love my friends!!! I have the best friends a woman could ask for!!)
