Winning is not about headlines and hardware [medals]. It's only about attitude. A winner is a person who goes out today and every day and attempts to be the best runner and best person they can be! Winning is about struggle and effort and optimism, and never, ever, ever giving up.

Old Hobbies Made New Again

About 8 or 9 years ago I participated in a Relief Society Meeting that taught us how to make Leper Bandages.  It required a knowledge of how to crochet.  It took me what felt like forever to get the hang of it, I remember it being so frustrating to see everyone around me getting so far on their bandages and I had yet to begin.  Awe, the memories.  Well, my friend Alicia, recently showed me how to use knitting looms to make beanies.  I made a few, then saw a picture of a crocheted flower on Misty's blog.  I thought it would be fun to learn how to crochet the flower so I could add them to my beanies!!!  Misty showed me how, and I did one!!  The funny thing, it didn't take me near as long to get it this time;) I guess I must have matured with age, who knew?!
I wanted to take on some other projects, and so I decided to crochet a scarf for my dearest friend Jenn!!!  I started it on the 23 and just finished this morning.  I was only able to work on it a little during the day, so most of the work was done at night, into the wee hours of the morning.  It is quite interesting to wake up with sore hands and not even be able to grip my brush or a box of cereal.  The feeling is starting to come back, though, so that is good!!!

The scarf was really fun to make.  The instructions called for 15 posies, but each one took me about a half hour, so I only made 9.  Maybe when I get faster I could make 15 without even blinking.  I was pretty excited with how it turned out, and it was so fun to see Jenn excited about it too.  Now I have another friend in mind I want to make one for, but I think I will let my hands rest for a bit.
